No swimming at beaches at Polynesian...is it true??

HI I am booked with family for a feb stay at polynesian...woohooo(first timers!!). Ive been doing alot of research but only just came across a few reveiws saying you are not supposed to swim in the lagoon water at the beaches there...just the 2 pools? Is this accurate and can somebody tell me why...bacteria,gators...??I guess im really surprised at this, is true.

Thanks in advance for any responses...appreciate very much!! Goldie, Ontario :)

No swimming at beaches at Polynesian...is it true??

There hasn%26#39;t been any swimming in the Lagoon for many years now ( last I remember being able to swim was back in %26#39;98 )

No swimming at beaches at Polynesian...is it true??

HI partypa I hope i didnt sound ';dim';, its our first time at disney and i just hadnt heard this before....do you happen to know why...is it water quality...im just curious? goldie

It is all about the water quality. The same is why they closed down River Country, the original Waterpark. There used to be a Wave Machine at the Poly Beach, that was really nice but the waves damaged the Beach and the whole concept was discontinued.

You can wade your feet in the water and it%26#39;s still very relaxing to spend an hour or 2 lounging on the Beach.

What are your dates in Feb ?

The Poly is a Great Resort, enjoy :)

Thanks partypa...i guess water wading will have to do! (we usually go to cancun...so love the beach...but this is a whole different vacation for sure!) We are booked from feb 5 to 12...is your family going then? goldie

We will be there the last week of Feb. Sorry we will miss you :(

You%26#39;ve picked a good week. Were you able to get the Buy 4 get 3 free Deal ?

Hi yes...i was just about to book 4 nights at polynesian..then stay at a friends place 3 more nights....the day i was about to book....up pops the deal......so yes...all 7 nights at disney! I picked the week for the crowd levels...hopefully the sale doesnt change it much...but i cant expect everything! Hope you and your family have a great time! I just discovered Tikki mans website about all the rooms...im hoping for a lagoon view in Tahiti building...crossing fingers! off to work now! goldie

Well Done on getting the Deal. The Tikkiman Site is Great, very useful.

Make sure your room request is noted on your reservation and I always follow up with a call a few days before srrival 407 - 834 - 2000

IMO, the ';Deal'; will not be increasing the crowd levels by much. I would recomend making a few Dining Reservations. Kona Cafe at the Poly is one of our Favourites :)

hi partypa back again! yes its a great site for sure..one of the other posters gave it to me!! Thanks for advise..will do that! Im an ex flight attendant and used to smoozing the hotels for upgrades and usually am lucky...crossing fingers!

I have had great luck with reservations and got all i wanted...cinderella castle lunch(big surprise for our daughter...and trip is too!),Le Cellier,Tepan Edu,Park Fare princess dinner,Ohanas our first night..thats all i can remember...but i was really happy! Thnaks again for advise!

You can%26#39;t swim from any Disney resort beach-the water is filthy as you will see. the pools are great-I wouldn%26#39;t let my kids put their feet in the lagoon water, though some do wade in it.

Hi there,

Yes can confirm that there is NO SWIMMING ALLOWED.

Firstly the water is absolutely filthy so would not want to come into contact with it let alone swim.

When you catch the ferry back towards the car parks at WDW (remembering that you can also board the monorail) then on your right is the resort and there are signposts dotted all along the sand %26#39;beach%26#39; stating there is no swimming permitted.

Again im afraid it is another disney for show gimmick

and not functional.
