We%26#39;re visiting Key West at the end of March 2009 and this will be our first visit. We have rented a large villa and will be flying in to Fort Lauderdale. There are 12 adults in our party. Not sure if we should rent cars from the airport to our Villa or take a shuttle service (if there is one). We only want to have 1 car for the week - we won%26#39;t need 3 or 4 of them. We are wondering if there is a shuttle service from the airport that could take us to a car rental place in Key West? Also, I believe our villa is approx. 15 minute drive to Duvall Street. Any comments on taxi services in Key West? We plan to find the grocery stores etc. once we get there.
Any information would help!

There is a shuttle that runs from FLL to Key West. It%26#39;s the Keys Shuttle.

It is a bit pricey. You might want to consider renting a minubus at FLL airport and do a one way rental each way. It will save you quite a bit of money. The Keys Shuttle might give you a substantial discount with 12 passengers traveling. I%26#39;d call them and ask as well as check with the various car rental companies on price.

I would also suggest that you rent a car or van to get you from FLL to Key West. At $75 per person each way, you can pay for a lot of gas for the trip.
Make the rental a one way like Simkeith said.
Where is the villa? In Key West? A 15 minute drive is a fairly long drive in KW. By the time you drive, find parking, pay for parking, you would probably be better off walking or taking a cab.
Have fun - be sure to give us a trip report.
Keys Shuttle is advertising that with a full-fare person, their companion rides for $10 - Just FYI.
Rent a couple of cars, drop one off for the duration and pick it back up for the return trip. Dollar wise, makes the most sense. If you have a couple of walkee-talkees you can keep in touch with each car.
Where is your villa located? If it%26#39;s 15 minutes from Key West, it may not be in Key West. We can give you some options on what your transportation needs will be daily, if you can give us an address. You might consider getting a van and keeping it for your entire vacation, because you are going to have to drive into Key West and one car won%26#39;t be enough for 12 people.
Limey
I would try to rent a 15 person van. It%26#39;s much cheaper and than you can keep it for the time you are there.
If you are 15 min. from Duval I don%26#39;t think you are going to be in Key West so you will need the van for almost anywhere you go.
Keylimey and Bottomtime have very good points. It doesn%26#39;t sound like you are in Key West but maybe on Stock Island and if so it might be worth keeping a van.
We ain%26#39;t got no villas on Stock Island. It%26#39;s concrete or working waterfront. lol
I am thinking that it might be that development between 3rd and 5th off Laural(?). You can see them from the main road.
Coral Hammock maybe. I%26#39;d also vote for a 15 pax Club Wagon (van)rental, you%26#39;ll likely travel as a group.
Coral Hammock! Thats the one I was thinking of.
