Hilton Beach Resort vs. Embassy Suites/Deerfield

Hi, I am planning a long weekend getaway in late January. I have Hilton Honors points to use. I am considering the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort and the Embassy Suites/Deerfield. I will be with 2 sisters (40ish) and my mother. I know it will be too cool to go into the ocean, but it would be nice to enjoy some time on the beach. Do both places charge for chairs on the beach? How much?

From what I have read, the Hilton is closer to restaurants, shops and things to do (considering a boat ride). Mostly just want to enjoy the weather and the beach. The free breakfast and manager%26#39;s reception are a draw at the Embassy Suites, but I%26#39;m not sure if I%26#39;ll be happy there if I get bored with reading in the sun.

If I stay at the Hilton, will I need a car to get to shops/restaurants, or are they within walking distance? Any comments/recommendations? Thanks

The Hilton is brand new and centrally located on the beach in FLL. Very close to Las Olas and the Riverwalk. I am not very familiar with the Embassy Suites but I would prefer the Hilton over the Embassy any day. I am also a HHonor Gold member.

The Embassy Suites in Deerfield is absolutely gorgeous- but if being around lots of activity is important to you, choose the Hilton. The Embassy is about three blocks from the little village of Deerfield Beach , which is only a couple of blocks of restaurants , bars and little beachwear shops. I love the beach there , but as a whole it is not exactly a beehive of nightlife.

Do keepn mind also though that while ther are many restaurants and bars along FLL Beach near the Hilton, the shopping opportunities on the beach there are also primarily beachwear and souvenir shops. For real shopping , you would need to go to galleria on Sunrise Blvd- and it is a bit of a walk from the Hilton- but Sun Trolley, city bus and Water Taxi are alternatives.

I don%26#39;t know the current cost of beach chairs, but I believe that I am correct that the concession all along the beach is the same - awarded by the city to one exclusive vendor. If that has changed , maybe a recent visitor will update me. Some people prefer to purchae their own and just leave it behind. I%26#39;m not sure if the drugstore in Beachplace is open yet - but that might be the place for a a more economical alternative for several days. I don%26#39;t recall what the arrangement is for beach chairs up in Deerfield- I always bring my own.

The other difference in properties is that the Embassy Deerfield Beach is a property with one bedroom suites while the Hilton has a choice of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom suites. That may be a determing factor as well. I would choose the Fort Lauderale property as there%26#39;s more to do in the area. Deerfield Beach is great..just not as ';busy'; as FLL..

Thank you for the replies. So if I stay at the Hilton, can I get by without renting a car? I hate paying $29/night parking! Are there good restaurants within walking distance or on the Sun Trolley route? Is the Hilton close to a Sun Trolley stop?

there are several places within walking distance, but you would probably want to go to Las Olas and the Galleria Mall as well, certainly in the evenings. You can get to both by Sun Trolley or Water Taxi..and if you really need to you could get a taxi which should be no more than $10 each way, which would still be less than parking your car.
