We have a long flight and my daughter mentioned that I might not be able to bring my knitting on board because it might be considered a sharp object. I thought I better ask.
can you take your knitting onboard flights?
are you crazy, of course you cant take knitting needles on board. Take a good book , jackie collins will keep you amused.
can you take your knitting onboard flights?
deejay - i too disagree (although i for one won%26#39;t question your sanity :) )....yes they would be classed as a hazard i%26#39;m sure - saying that on virgin in PE you are allowed proper cutlery as in metal cutlery - surely they are more of a hazzard that knitting needles but there you go....
Perhaps, drumsticks could be used instead of knitting needles.
Your pullover may get a bit greasy though.
I guess the ';are you crazy?'; comment got to me so I checked with Southwest Airlines and yes, you can bring knitting and crochet needles on board. According to the TSA website, under the ';sharp object'; list, you can bring scissors-metal with pointed tips and blades shorter than 4 inches.
im sorry didnt mean it to sound that way, just over in the uk its a no no so wrongly i ammused, but yet id be careful.
Hi deejay. If you want to do knitting on the flight , thats fine, (I hear it passes the time ,so I hope you can) but I cannot actually believe a knitting needle is allowed on-board?? That is absolutely ridiculous. What a weapon ?? Surely not?
Well, Deejay is not completely crazy :-)
According to the TSA website (Transportation Security Administration) knitting needles are permitted; however, the security officers on duty have the authority to determine if the needles could be used as a weapon, and may not permit you to bring them. The TSA recommends that the knitting needles be less than 31 inches in length (don%26#39;t know what that is in centimeters), and that they be made of bamboo or plastic. In case the officer on duty doesn%26#39;t allow the needles to pass through security, then it%26#39;s recommended that you bring along a stamped, self-addressed envelope so you can mail yourself the knitting needles (Now, that does sound a little involved). They also recommend that you bring along a crochet hook with yarn to save the work you have already done if the needles are not permitted.
I guess drinking oneself into a stupor may be the preferred mode of activity level on a long flight....
I have a small pair of needle craft scissors, the blade is inch and a half long (If that) and virgin said no it wouldnt be allowed as i asked at twiglight, i took it down to security and asked there and they said no, so I left my cross stitch in the car in the long term car park and brought a magazine instead (but with 4 kids didnt read much of it until the following morning when i was up at 3am as usual on our first night
Can anyone knit Fog????
31 inch knitting needles????? God only knows what you would be knitting with needles nearly 3 foot long - a new plane??????
