So, my girlfriends and I are coming to South Beach on Dec 11-14 and were supposed to be staying at a friend%26#39;s condo for free. The condo is located in Sunny Isles and we were just going to take cabs to go out in South Beach. I know the cabs would have been expensive, but it still would have been cheaper than paying for a hotel every night.
Anyway, we were just informed that we might not be able to stay at the condo for whatever reason. So, since we now have to pay for a hotel, I would like to actually stay in South Beach. Somewhere close to the nightlife as we plan on going to Mansion, Plunge, Delano, and possibly Prive. Is there a reasonably priced hotel (remember we originally planned on staying for free) within walking distance to the nightlife? Also, is the area safe to be walking around late at night?
Another dilema is to rent a car or take the shuttle from the airport (FLL). A car would be around $100 total and the shuttle is about $30 per person each way. The only problem with the car is parking.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

So, I booked the Greenview Hotel. Any thoughts? I can always cancel the reservation. I just liked the location and the reviews weren%26#39;t too bad. I guess I still just have the question of safety walking at night in the area. Will it be okay for us to walk home from the clubs, or would we be better off taking a cab?

have you tried the Century hotel?
If you麓re on a budget I would say Ocean 5 Hotel (direct Ocean Drive)
Or the Kent is right in the middle of everything!
Better options are Loews, Shore Club, National...

The Greenview is right at the juncture of Lincoln Mall and Washington Avenue and is a safe location because it is almost the CENTER of town.
If this deal is still available - you might want to check it out:

thanks for the responses! I%26#39;ll check out those other hotels.
AG- I checked out that deal and it%26#39;s actually about $150 more than what I am paying at Greenview. Is Greenview a bad choice? We really don%26#39;t plan on being in the room that much.
I am by no means a South Beach expert but the rooms look decent and its cheap enough. Especially since your not going to be in the room alot. The Travelors pictures on this site and their reviews and half and half...I just clicked on your dates and heck Expedia and hotels.com have the rooms for 53 for Thurs., 74 for Friday and 76 for Sat. Can%26#39;t beat that for South Beach in Dec.
have fun and good luck~!
Yeah, the reviews are mixed so it%26#39;s hard to tell. Some people are just very particular and complain a lot. For example, when I go to Vegas, I stay at Imperial Palace which has some really horrible reviews, but it%26#39;s just fine for me.
I got the deal for the Greenview on hotels.com. My total came to $230 total for the 3 nights. I%26#39;m having a hard time finding anything better so I%26#39;ll probably just stick with it.

Nothing wrong with the Greenview and as I said, the location is ideal!

Thanks everyone!
Just thought I%26#39;d post an update. I ended up cancelling my Greenview reservation and booking the deal AG posted above (Thanks AG for the great find!)
It%26#39;s a little more expensive, but I have a feeling I%26#39;ll be glad I made the change. I booked the Catalina for 2 guests because bookit.com charged $20 a night for the extra person. If we check-in without the other person with us, do you think they%26#39;ll eventually notice her and charge us? Not a big deal if the do, just wondering if anyone has had experience with this.
Thanks Again AG!
