Spaceship Earth @ Epcot: What's It Like Now?

Well, since I%26#39;ve not yet been to WDW this year, and it was still under renovation last December, I%26#39;ve not had a chance to ';ride'; the new version of Spaceship Earth.

For those of you who have, tell me all about it. Is it much different from before? Is the ride virtually the same but with different scenes?

It%26#39;s pretty much the same until you get to the end. You know how it went through communication? Now it goes through computing. I suppose it makes sense with the change in sponsors. I wasn%26#39;t as thrilled with it. Then you have the whole interactive portion. Which is kind of neat. My Mom can never place herself in the right area though. She usually winds up in the middle of the ocean!

Overall, I miss the Old Spaceship Earth, but this one is good in its own regard. Still a must do :)

its more high tech now, it takes your photo on the way up and yo go through the same as last time really but instead of going into the future communications it has a different ending, each car has a computer touch screen and you are asked some questions and it then turns your answers and your photo into a little cartoon depending on your answers everyone gets there own version telling you what your world would be like in the future.

Unfortunately when we went my computer didnt work and had to sit there listening to my kids behind me laughing their heads off at their cartoon with me desperately trying to turn around saying ';Whats so funny';

When you exit the ride your photo then gets added to a giant globe on the country where they live...my kids managed to put themselves in the middle of the ocean!

It%26#39;s basically the same but a little more up to date toward the end of the ride. Your seat is outfitted with a touch screen now and on the way up your picture is taken then toward the end you%26#39;re asked some questions about where you live and what you like. Then when you descend you%26#39;re shown a little cartoon with you as the stars. That part is kind of cool. You exit through an area with lots of electronic things to do.

It%26#39;s really cute at the end with the cartoon.

Don%26#39;t forget to email your ';picture'; home at the end of the ride before you exit.

Does it still break down? Or was that just my bad luck everytime I went on it :0)

When we left the ride I did notice our pictures up on the big globe map thingy. They were in the middle of the Pacific and then zoomed across the map home to Baton Rouge. I thought this was kind of neat. So, make sure you smile nice because everyone outside the ride exit will see! Scott had on his ';too much Disney'; face and he looked like a grinch.

I guess Scott doesn%26#39;t have the face like one of my daughters, she has the perfect smile on every ride where the camera is.

Our next visit our little guy will be big enough for Dinosaur. I can not wait to buy the picture. The oldest can not help it she sceams with hands over her face. The next daughter in line has a model type pose for the picture.

That is good that you can email the photo, a nice disney surprise. I think I will email it to my mom so she gets it before we get home.

What about the song? I really liked the one ';Tomorrow麓s child';

Oh, Brazil, that song makes me so sentimental. The first time we rode Spaceship Earth was back in 1989 and our youngest was just a toddler. She was falling asleep on the ride and Scott made up his own version of Tomorrow%26#39;s Child to sing to her while she slept. We%26#39;ll still call her Tomorrow%26#39;s Child every now and them.

Jennifer

oh how cute!

For me the Spaceship Earth lost its charm without that song!
