What's new in where to dine

I go down to AI about 2 times a year and looking for a new place to take my mom, pretty up-scale and some place she hasn%26#39;t eaten at before any suggestions?

Also need a place to wifi from and maybe grab a cup of coffee and some breakfast. Any ideas?

Don%26#39;t know how upscale you want, but Salt (Ritz Carlton) would be the top end. Downtown historic district has several very nice places. My favorites would be Espana, 29 South, Joe%26#39;s Bistro, Beech Street Grill, Bonito to start. Nothing new recently, in light of the econonmy.

For coffee, you can%26#39;t beat the kofe hous on Sadler Road. They roast their own beans, bake fresh pastries each morning, and have free (completely free, not even a log in id) WiFi. If you want a more complete b%26#39;fast, then T-Ray%26#39;s is the best, albeit a bit funky (located in an Exxon station).

Some great suggestions in the earlier post. Again, not sure what your definition of ';upscale'; is. Baxter%26#39;s is also nice. Gennaro%26#39;s Italian Restaurant recently opened located in the former Spanky%26#39;s location next to Barbara Jeans overlooking the marsh %26amp; intracoastal waterway just as you come onto the Island. Some mixed reviews from myself as well as others. Can%26#39;t remember if La Bodega was on the earlier list, but one definately to be considered.

Breakfast at T-Rays is a definite Fernandina Beach experience and a great southern breakfast; but if you need linen tablecloths %26amp; silverware, you probably want to pass it by as it is local order at the counter and bus your own table. A little nicer but with a personal touch is Bright Mornings in the historic district of Fernandina Beach on S. 3rd Street just south of Ash Street.

Enjoy your visit.

Ooops, another senior moment. I confused Gennaro%26#39;s Italian Restaurant with Thyme. Gennaro%26#39;s is located on 2nd Street in Fernandina Beach, but I have had mixed experiences. Thyme is the one located next to Barbara Jeans that opened earlier this year. It is owned by the same folks that own Brett%26#39;s Cafe on the riverfront in Fernandina. Generally good experience at Thyme; although first couple of times were uneven but probably due to the newness of their operation.

Sorry for the confusion!
