Hello Everyone.
I am in need of some crafty help %26amp; direction from you kind sages of the Keys!
Here%26#39;s the situation that just sprung up...
My fiance and I were planning to get married in Islamorada at the end of January. As of yesterday, plans were falling in to place, we had the site for our small and intimate ceremony, and a few of the reception plans were being inked in, all seemed well.
Until this morning, when I received a disheartening message from my father, explaining he didn%26#39;t know how to break it to us, but..his funding he thought he was going to have..is not coming through - therefore, the wedding they wanted to give us..is now just a distant pink cloud on that Gulf horizon...
Long forum posting made short - my fiance and I don%26#39;t need classy, nor do we need frilly or showy or expensive. We just want to have a few friends and family together, in one of our favorite places ( the FL keys), sharing the beautiful surroundings and sunsets with us.
Does anyone out there have advice on the following:
1) Free ceremony site (pref. on Gulf side) - could be park, stretch of sand, etc.
2) Place (such as restaurant or outdoor bar) which usually has band, where we can go after ceremony for impromptu recpetion (30-35 ppl or less). Or any reception ideas...
3)Any inexpensive ideas you want to shoot our way, we%26#39;ll gladly receive!
The wedding will go on!
Thanks for reading,
J

We got married for free on Sombrero Beach in Marathon. Ocean side, not Gulf side, but quite beautiful. Again, free, but you should get a permit from the town. Sparky%26#39;s Landing at the Key Colony Beach Marina would be a fun, casual, Keysy place for your after-party. They have live music Wed-Thu-Fri and sometimes Sat. Their food is wonderful and they%26#39;ll do a very nice, affordable buffet with yummy finger food if you like. Carolyn is a great hostess and will please you with fresh flowers and greens right from her yard.
Just my suggestion ... I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get others.
Just remember, it%26#39;s your day. It%26#39;s less important to please your guests as it is for you to enjoy it. Keep it simple and you%26#39;ll have a wonderful time.
Try Bayside Inn Key Largo, they have beach front jetty, restaurant next door which is waterfront. you could call the restaurant for reservation and then just order fromt he menu or bayside has a grill if you wanted to grill out for your family%26gt; soooo give it a try. Thats what we did and man was it beautiful. oh and dont forget the preacher you need oneof those lol. or officiant they call it now i guess
