A Couple of Days in FLL, your help please

We will be in FLL a couple of days post cruise. My hubby and I have 2-20somethings with us and we would like to stay somewhere with a nice pool, close to beach, restaurants, art, shopping. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express pre cruise but would like something a bit more upscale for our post cruise days - 2 1/2 days. We fly out of FLL so don%26#39;t want to go too far away. Our max is $250 Canadian per night. Any suggestions for hotels and activities would be greatly appreciated.

You can checkout the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas -- they have a nice pool and the best location around -- lots of restaurants, shopping and the art museum is just a few blocks down the street. The beach is a little bit further but you can easily catch a cab for a few bucks.

What dates and we might be able to help you a little better

Our post cruise dates are Dec. 27 - leaving Dec. 29th mid aftn. Thanks for your info so far!

I love the Riverside Hotel but don%26#39;t think that%26#39;s your best option. The hotel is planning some renovations (not inside, but outside) and there may be some construction around their pool area.

I would look at Embassy Suites 17th Street, FLL Grande, Hyatt Pier 66. These hotels are near many restaurants and the Grande has a water taxi stop. The water taxi can get you to Las Olas Blvd. very easily (although not as quickly as a taxi cab, but a nice/prettier ride!). But an all-day pass for $13. After Las Olas, you can also take the water taxi up to Sunrise Blvd. and go to Galleria Mall - a very nice upscale mall with some really nice restaurants. I particularly like Seasons 52 and Capital Grille.

A hotel with a smaller pool but next door to the Galleria is GalleryOne by Doubletreet. That%26#39;s another option.

that would be ';buy'; an all-day water taxi pass.....

Do you know when they are going to start their construction? I read a while ago about how they were going to tear down the rest of the block where Cafe Europa, Shizen, etc used to be -- but now they decorated all of the windows in the old places for some reason.

The ';street portion'; of the renovations will be done after the back of the hotel area is completed. They were supposed to start November 1st but obviously it%26#39;s delayed.

I just don%26#39;t want the poster to make a reservation there and then find out there%26#39;s no pool area due to construction.

You%26#39;re right, I was just curious.

Thanks

Thank you for all of the info. We booked the Doubletree, Gallery One. We were able to pick up a suite with two queens and a pull out. It sounds like an excellent location for us to explore FLL for two days we are there. Thanks again!

GalleryOne is a beautiful hotel. The suites are all renovated and really nice. Lots of room and good location!
