Depending on your route to the Everglades,

If you take the Tamiami trail (a scenic route - better than alligator alley west of Fort Lauderdale)

Stop at the Micosukee resort for some casino gambling and fun, and if you go 18 miles west of that visit the indian village, go airboat riding, or see alligator wrestling.

Upper Keys - definately snorkel or take a glass bottom boat ride at John Pennekamp State park

On your way to Fort Lauderdale, stop in Hollywood at the Hard Rock - lots of clubs, an even better casino (Vegas style) than the Micosukee one, and restaurants - http://www.seminolehardrockhollywood.com/

Lots of other options that I could list.

Enjoy!

Anyother thoughts

If you want to Everglades Nat. park, that%26#39;s a whole day, so you%26#39;d best drop something off your list -- either Seaquarium or the Keys or both. If all you want to do is drive out on Tamiami Trail to look at some indians %26amp; %26#39;gators, you don%26#39;t need that much time. There%26#39;s lots of attractions you can stop at.

It is true the Everglades is huge and monumental.

I was just giving you a small taste of the extreme outskirts in the vicinity of Miami.

The seaquarium is definately worth seeing, as well as Jungle Island (formerly Parrot Jungle) on Watson Island just a few minutes from South Beach.

The upper keys are about 1 hour South of Miami Beach.

combine the Keys and Everglades - - because the evenings are getting darker earlier you won%26#39;t be able to do all of this. Since Morada Bay is closed I would do the Everglades or snorkel/boat and then have dinner at the Fish House before heading back.
