I%26#39;m off to Sanibel Island with a friend, leaving the husbands home, for some sun and relaxation. We both teach and just want some time in the sun to unwind.
So many forum visitors love this island. Please suggest places for us to stay in February. Sanibel Inn and Seaside Inn have rooms available for our dates.
Where to stay for first visit to Sanibel Island
Either is fine but if you want to get away from the kids you might look at Song of the Sea which caters to adults and couples. It%26#39;s next doo to Sanibel Inn so you can walk over there to use the pool bar or restaurant.
And remember- what goes on in Sanibel stays in Sanibel!

Err.. that%26#39;s ';door'; not ';doo';
Both Sanibel and Seaside Inn%26#39;s are good bets. Look at Song of the Sea also - even though it is geared to couples, might be a place to consider if you want a break from kids. All three are sister properties.
I would also check out Ocean%26#39;s Reach - bldg 1 and 4 to avoid pool noise - nice one or two bedroom condos, pool, almost set on the beach.
Shalimar and Beachview cottages are both nice, Shalimar has one bedroom and Beachview has one and two bedroom. Great locations on West Gulf Drive. The Blue Dolphin is also a great choice - no pool, however.
West Wind Inn and Sunset Beach are more motel style - again on a great area of West Gulf Drive. West Wind Inn has a pool bar.
And Lucky You!!! If I was going to Sanibel with a friend or alone - I honestly don%26#39;t know which one I would choose, I would be happy at any of them.
Lol, MSC - better doo than doodee.
My vote would be for Blue Dolphin, as Sunny said no pool, but it is right on the beach, and since there is not a pool there are no children, thus being very quiet and relaxing.
It isn%26#39;t a fancy place by any means, but it is clean and nice, and very secluded. On the best part of beach on Sanibel. You are surrounded by beautiful homes and very few people on the beach.
Dandelion, I would stay at the West Wind Inn ... so old Florida, immaculate and roomy, wonderful housekeepers. You can have breakfast there at their restaurant (or get one of the rooms with a kitchenette for about $10 more), hang out and eat lunch at the pool/bar, walk right down to the beach/water when the spirit moves you. I LOVE the place; could live there! :-) In February, you shouldn%26#39;t have many kids ...
I would say that February has winter breaks so you would find more kids around. Low-kid-months would be September-early December, January %26amp; May-June.
mysanibelcondo, I meant that you would not have as many kids around during February as during a summer vacation, i.e. ... That%26#39;s been my experience, anyhoooo ...
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Some of the properties aren%26#39;t available, but we hope to be deciding soon. Can%26#39;t wait to see your photos, kimber23ks!
Dandelion - let us know what you decide and please come back if you have more questions and with a trip report when you return!! Happy planning.
