Is this worth a visit %26amp; how long a drive from Kissimmee area? Fancy trying a few new places and St Augustine sounds lovely. What are the main attractions there? Any info welcome, ta
St AugustineHello - we visited St Augustine in July when we went to Florida - it was about a two hour drive from Kissimmee - we stayed at the Carriageway Inn located in the historic district. We loved it - the place is quite small and the shops were very different to what you find in Kissimmee with many unusual items. We visited Flagler College, we did a ghost tour, carriage ride, visted the lighthouse etc. I would definately visit as it makes a great change from the hustle and bustle of Kissimmee. We also visited a place called Mount Dora - this was recommended and was about an hour away from Kissimmee so could be done in a day - this is very beautiful and also worth a visit - I hope this helps.
St AugustineWould agree that St Augustine is worth the trip. Check out this recent post to give you ideas on what folks recommend for a day trip.

This was on my to do list last time. I%26#39;ve heard a lot of good stories but as yet have not managed it. I will definitely be going next time - it is apparently the oldest continuously occupied European-established city, and the oldest port, in the continental United States (for anyone interested in history).
Went there the other week and it%26#39;s a 2 hour drive each way from WDW.
It is worth the drive.
It%26#39;s a lovely little town especially George Street with it%26#39;s little shops, restaurants etc.
The little ';train tour'; is very good and informative.
There are some nice beaches there too.
We spent one night there last year.We stayed at the Hilton ,a really beautiful small hotel, ate at A1A restaurant ,which was our best meal of the trip and took a carraige ride(quite expensive)but a nice way to see the city.
Hi, St Augustine is definitely worth the trip. It%26#39;s a beautiful little city with so much to see and do, and would be a great place to spend a day or two away from the fast pace of the theme parks.
During our holiday in Orlando in November we will visit St Augustine, also the World Golf Village, it seems a shame to visit Florida and not see a bit of something different, we plan to go to Winter Park as well.
There is loads of info on the St Augustine forum.
We won%26#39;t have children with us so can please ourselves.
If you want a place to get out the heat for a couple of hours, I have always liked the Lightner Museum.

I%26#39;m surprised no one has yet mentioned the Castillo de San Marcos and Ft. Matanzas. St. Augustine is one of the very few places in North America that has historic sites that are more than 200 years old.
And, oh by the way, the nearby beaches are fantastic.
