we are looking at surfside resort and would like to know if anyone has stayed in unit 1402? thoughts on surfside in general are also welcome.

Debi, I don%26#39;t know tons about Surfside other than it is a bit older and is directly across the street from a beautiful beach, and it is very convenient to all there is to do in Destin. So depending on where your unit is you could have a great view! What time of the year are you looking to be in Destin?

As twilson mentioned, a lot depends on your situation, such as when, with who, what you want out of your vacation. Please post these, and I can try to help you out.

I stayed in Unit 1606 for the 4th of July weekend. I used to have the floor plans that would show where the ';02'; units are on each floor so that I could tell what kind of view you will have, but basically none are bad from the 14th floor.

Try to avoid this place during peak season, as the beaches are a little crowded, and if rain hits, you will have a half hour wait to get back to your place.

Also, while it is convenient to many places, if your plans include things near Crab Island (basically anywhere on the western portion of Destin) it will take you a while to get there. It%26#39;s about 6 miles from the Harborwalk area (bridge) which can be a very long 6 miles in mid-summer.

I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate at all during the shoulder and off-seasons, as there are good rates to be had for what you get at Surfside. The beaches have been renourished, although not sure what effect Ike has had on that.
