8 Days in the Miami Area - Help needed with Itinerary

Hi,

I%26#39;m flying into Miami at the beginning of Novemmebr for 8 days and having never been before i%26#39;d like to see as much as possible.

I have booked a hotel on Mimi beach for 4 nights to see most of Miami, then going down to Key West (have a hire car booked for the week) for 1 night.

After that i%26#39;ll have 3 nights left and am unsure whether its worth the long drive across to Naples, or if i should stay somewhere else in the Miami area?

I%26#39;d quite like to see the Everglades, but really im a blank canvas. Not sure if i%26#39;m being too ambitious for a week!

Any ideas would be welcomed!

Sounds lovely.

Try to do a little reading about each destination and do pop onto the forums of each separate place as the members of the groups have so much info to share.

and you can get great ideas for the planning of your adventure.

Miami, Keys and Naples are all different resort communities. The drive to the Keys can take 3 hours or 3 days depending if you decide to stop and enjoy the ride at various beachy communities (and great restaurants too). You may decide to do more than just one night in the Keys stopping midway one night and then sleep in Key West the next.

The Everglades are all accessible en route so you do have the trip mapped out properly.

For your Miami Beach stay, use this guide map I made for you to help you plan%26gt;

Thanks AG, that%26#39;s really helpful!

One night in KW is not very much considering you will drive 4 hours each way to get there. I would add at least one night to KW. GIven you goal of seeing a lot, I do like the idea of adding Naples and I think a couple of nights there is enough. I would break up the driving by doing Miami in the middle of the trip. The Everglades are an easy add to either Naples or Key West.

If you want to add to Key West, then you stop at the Florida City entrance on the way down. There%26#39;s a nice boardwalk trail (about 1/2 mile) called the Anhinga Trail that is a great place to see gators and other critters. Directions are in the go list below. If you want to add it to Naples, then take US 41 Tamiami Trail either to or from Naples. That gives you the chance to stop at Shark Valley where the national park runs a tram or you can rent bikes. This is also the road with all the airboats.

Have fun!

Thanks for the advice!

Can anyone recommend an affordable hotel/motel in South Beach? I%26#39;m struggling a bit to find something for the 8/9 Nov and the fact i%26#39;ll need parking seems to be an issue with some places i%26#39;ve tried?

I don%26#39;t know how parking fees are in London, but coming from Europe I found fees in SoBe not to be too expensive. At EUR 11 (GBP 8.80) for 24 hs I think it%26#39;s actually not that bad.

Go north an hour to Palm Beach (not West Palm Beach) and see the ';Beverly Hills'; and ';Rodeo Drive'; (Worth Avenue) of Florida.

The Everglades National Park is big but you can make it a day or half day. Do this going to or coming from the Keys as it is south of Miami.

South Beach hotel? You get what you pay for.

The drive to Naples isn%26#39;t long on Interstate 75. An hour or so but Naples is pretty much residential.

Try staying the Upper Keys instead of going back to Miami. Or on your return from Key West spend a day in Marathon or Islamorda, then your last night in Key Largo. Parking your car here will be free.
