Shelbourne

I%26#39;ve heard mixed reviews on the Shelbourne, which is where my boyfriend and I will be staying in a couple weeks. I was just wondering has anybody stayed there recently after the ';renovations';? The good reviews and bad reviews even out. We%26#39;re staying in the hotel in an ocean view suite hopefully that is the difference from the other rooms that got bad reviews. I just want someone%26#39;s opinion who has gone there recently within the last month?

Thanks,

L

Shelbourne

Hi Lauren,

I stayed there last year and we loved it BUT we stayed in a private owned room that we rented from www.sobeachrentals.com

The facilities are pretty adequate, definitey not 5 star but I am not picky. We are staying at the Shelborne again this year, but we also are renting from the same people. If you still have time, check out www.sobeachrentals.com and see if you can find a beter deal or something?

Shelbourne

It%26#39;s fine but I think you can find better value. Depends what%26#39;s important to you. Nice room v on the beach v location etc.

Hi Lauren, would you please feed back on your stay at the Shelbourne?

Would be interesting to hear what you experienced. There are a group 20 to 25 looking for condo type places to say in South Beach and would love to hear your reply.

Thank you,

Rod

Rodney,

Ive stayed at the Shelborne 2 years in a row. If you are on a budget then its a good place to stay if you rent through privat condo units. I hear that the rates for a regular room is about 200$ a night which is RIDICULOUS, the hotel itself should charge 100$ since it is ugly and the elevators rarely work.

Check out www.vacationrentals.com for private rentals or I usually rent from www.sobeachrentals.com but let me tell you from experience that private rentals can be a pain in the ***

Hi-

We stayed at Shelbourne private condo last year and it was horrible. There was a hole in the wall behind the toilet in the bathroom, plywood instead the countertop in a tiny kitchenette. It was simply bad. But I couldn%26#39;t complain since we paid very little. But at least the pool was nice. I don%26#39;t know how the other rooms look like, but our, I have to say, wasn%26#39;t good. But I heard that overall condos are better. Maybe we just had a bad luck.

Yes the condos are better than the rooms BUT it depends on who you rent from (I have had 2 bad experiences, 2 years in a row!)

I agree with Audreybella on this one, the parties at the Shelbourne may be legendary, but the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired.

I live in Hawaii and have stayed in nice places in Hawaii. We loved

Susy%26#39;s beach getaway'; at the shelborne. It

was a very nice and comfortable place to stay.

The beach is right behind the hotel and there are nice places to eat and shop. Good pool, nice lobby and great jacuzzi.

We would stay there again.

If you stay at Shelbourne, go directly through the hotel. Do *NOT* use Sobeach Rentals (sobeachrentals.com) .

They gave our room to someone else, even though we had reserved and PAID for it 5 months in advance. See this post for details, and other bad reports about SoBeach Rentals:

Dp not confuse Southbeachrentals with those rented out by private owners. You will see many great revews of private rentals on Tripadvisor. Some of those include Susy%26#39;s beach getaway, Allysa%26#39;s beach loft, and Robin%26#39;s nest.
