Hello:
I would like to get some recommendations on a nice 2-bdrm family condo right off the beach for a family of 4, two adults and two children ages 10 and 7...not too expensive We are not planning to go until early June 09 for 5-7 days, but would like to start looking now and getting prices, as the Summer time fills up quickly. What I am learning is that alot of place do not have pricing for June 09 yet...is it too early to start getting prices? If so, when should we start looking?
Recommendations for a nice family condomeme96, We are staying at the Beach Resort right now, and could not have found a better place to stay!
The best part of this place is the pool for the kids, zero entry alot of the pool is under 3 ft deep and there are spriklers and a ';musroom fountain in the 1-2 ft deep area. This has been great for us as there is alot of seaweed in the water, and we have been spending alot of time at the pool! we are in a 1 bedroom, with a pull-out sofa bed, and 2 bunk beds in addition to the king bed in the master. Located right across the street from the beach, but the acces is about 2 blocks down, we have found the short walk to be no big deal for us, and we plan on coming back to this place again, the pool is the best we have found along Mirimar beach! We are renting from Bob and Diane Fiore, and their daughter Lori, you should look them up on VRBO, they are very gracious and accomidating. They even put a key lime pie in the fridge for our arrival!
Hope this helps!
Recommendations for a nice family condoWe liked Silver Shells when we last stayed in Destin. If you stay in the St. Lucia building it%26#39;s a little cheaper because the building sits catty-corner behind the St. Maartens building. Still had great views though.
Thanks so much for your posts, as I will looks into these possibilities this morning. We really would like a place that has really big cool pools, as we%26#39;re not beach swimmers at all. Any more suggestions?
We always stay at the Seafarer.. nice.. not expensive..good location..right on the beach.. we love it..
We are going in less than 2 weeks and staying at Destin West Beach and Bay Resort. If you go to vrbo.com, click on the pandhandle area, then Okaloosa Island...you can find this resort in the Okaloosa section. Some of these condos are on the bay side, some on the gulf side, so just make sure you pay attention to the descriptions if you want one over the other.
There is also a resort called Waterscape that%26#39;s brand new (opened March of this year) that looks very nice for families.
Our first pick was Destin West because it has several pools, a lazy river, a splash park, etc. Okaloosa Island will be less crowded than Destin proper, as it%26#39;s not quite as commercialized and there are no high rises allowed on the island.
I can recommend Beach Retreat. Very easy access to the beach, short walk, very nice pool. Nice, roomy condo, great view. Not sure what your definition of ';not too expensive'; is, but we paid $1650 for a week in July last year.
If you do not have your heart set in Destin, you might want to look at Fort Walton. We are planning as well and I really like Waterscape. Mainly because of the pool that they have. I haven%26#39;t been there yet so I can%26#39;t give you the first person experience but based on what I read, everyone is really happy about it.
I knew the Storm Troopers would snatch that post .
Shameless self promoters not allowed .
We have always stayed at Jetty East, or the Aegean on Holiday Isle, and it is fabulous.
We would consider the Islander which is between Jetty East, and another condo, can%26#39;t think of the name right now.
Holiday Surf and racquet club is right in the middle, but their balconies are screened which most people don%26#39;t like.
People have complained of the limited beach area in front of Jetty East, but to walk towards the jetty area, you would find many places, that are pretty much isolated.
All of the condos we have stayed in were exceptional, very clean, and included a washer and dryer. which I consider very important, since we travel from Rockford, Ill., about an 1100 mile trip, so as not to have to pack too much for 3 boys and my husband and I.
Holiday Isle is secluded and away from the business of the main drag, highway 98. We only venture out to shop when it rains.
Other than that we stay at the condo, most of the week, and soak up the sun, eat in, and go to collect carryouts from Callahans.
