October trip...where to stay????

Hi,

I need help with our fall trip!!! We were originally planning on staying in Destin, but flights are too expensive - I%26#39;m looking at some great deals for direct flights to Sarasota - interested in Siesta Key and Longboat Key - where should we stay? It is just my husband and I (one-bedroom condo would be best), and our top priority is DIRECTLY on the beach with a balcony...we will probably rent a car to get to restaurants, explore the area, etc. but it would be nice to be within walking distance to a few places....any thoughts?

We%26#39;ve only been to the Siesta Key area once (with the kids) and stayed at Palm Bay Club - we really enjoyed it and are considering it again, but we%26#39;d like to try someething different...I%26#39;ll also post this on the Siesta Key forum....thanks so much for any advice you can give!

Lots of thoughts ... love both places for different reasons.

We love LBK year round, there are great places to stay for the two of you and lots to explore. ';Walking distance'; however, is at a premium, unless you happen to stay at the far south end of the key and are within walking distance to St. Armonds circle.

In October with just the two of you, and wanting ';walkability';, Siesta Key has a slight edge. There will be no rambunctious teens, less restaurant lines, and the beach is the best, bar none. Unless I%26#39;m totally off-base, it should be slow season as everyone is back to school, and the snowbirds have not arrived yet. (It is, however, still hurricane season, so I%26#39;d recommend booking last minute!) Palm Bay is great and should have some ';last minute'; deals -- keep checking! Also, don%26#39;t rule out the bayside units ... very tranquil, and you%26#39;ll have the bayside pool and swim spa to yourself!

I have been to LBK a couple years ago and we stayed at the Longboat key reasort, it was fantastic! If fact I%26#39;m leaving this Monday to go back again. They have great 1 bedroom condos or suites, all fully equipped with a kitchen, washer/dryer ect... The sunsets are beautiful. Great restaurants nearby. It%26#39;s a grat place to just chill!
