Romantic guy proposal????
laura, I%26#39;ve bumped up the romantic guy post for you!.
She said yes! He ended up proposing on the balcony during the fireworks. Everything went great. He posted the proposal details under a different sign on name, not Romanticguy, and I can%26#39;t remember what it was??? I%26#39;m sure someone else will remember. Anyways, everything went great!
It%26#39;s MontrealKid
Thanks I couldn%26#39;t remember it. Here is a copy of what he said:
Well.... I think she said yes. Actually I know she said YES! The reason I know this is that I am RomanticGuy. I created that second account because I was worried my then girlfriend, now fiancée, would stumble upon my posts. I don’t know if there are any rules against this but I hope this isn’t frowned upon by TA. This is my real TA account; I needed help from all you posters and didn%26#39;t want to blow the surprise.
Anyways so here is our trip report:
We are from Montreal but flew out of Burlington, VT because the airfare is a fraction of the price. I was so nervous going through airport security. The last thing I wanted was for them to question me on the ring (A proposal under the metal detector isn%26#39;t my idea of romance - haha). I hid the box in a pair of rolled-up socks in the checked baggage. I had the ring in my pocket and thankfully it didn%26#39;t set off any alarms - PHEW!! We were on our way!
DAY 1:
We arrived on the 28th of July at noon. The magical express seemed to take forever to arrive but I think it is just our excitement that made us impatient. We arrived at the Pop Century at found that they did not honour our requests for room preference (they gave us parking lot view in the 60%26#39;s building and two double beds - nobody wants 2 double beds for an event as special as this). A brief phone call sufficed to have our room changed to pool view with a king bed still in the 60%26#39;s building. I discretely hid the ring between the pages of my passport and put it in the in-room safe. So far so good.
After checking in we went to Islands of Adventure. The Mears transportation was great and on time ($16 round trip per person if anyone is wondering). We had a great day. Ate a late night dinner at the Nascar café, and it was very good if you like bar-style food.
DAY 2:
Took an early bus to Universal Studios, again we had an amazing day. We had never been there before and we really enjoyed it. It is definitely one of our favourite parks. Revenge of the Mummy, Simpson’s and Shrek were our 3 favourites here. We were unlucky during lunch time. We are not picky at all but we had a little bad luck. We saw Lombard’s and thought we might give it a try. When we went in they took our names and made us wait even though the place was almost empty and all the tables were already set, we found this strange but it only made us laugh. As soon as we went into the dining room we noticed that the placed had an awful smell. It smelled of rotten fish and we decided not to eat there. Then we went to Finnegan’s and got bad service so we went to see Guest relations and explained all that had happened. They were so nice and gave us free fast-passes for the day. We went to Bubba Gump’s for dinner. The service was amazing the food was also amazing.
DAY 3 (The big day):
We went to Magic Kingdom early so we could be there for the opening show. We had a picture-perfect day. We had lunch at Cinderella’s royal table. I was shocked to be placed at the best table in the place. The service and food was way better than I had expected and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had an inkling about my plans. We took a picture with the fairy godmother and she said to me “You two make such a nice couple, when are you going to ask her to marry you?”. I was chuckling inside, just thought it was funny she would mention this on the big day. I also made sure we passed by the wishing well during the day and acted surprised to find it. We made a wish as we threw some coins into it. Before dinner I snuck the ring out of the safe, into its box and into my bag while my girlfriend was getting ready. We took the ferry from MK to the Grand Floridian, it was really nice. Once we arrived we walked around and I acted surprised to find that there was a beach at the GF and I asked my girlfriend if she thought we could perhaps see MK from there. We went to Narcoossee’s and we were seated by the window. What a view! We had an amazing dinner; we had some crab cakes and calamari as appetizers. She had the swordfish and I had the Scallops and crab risotto. We also had some great wine and a raspberry mojito. Everything was perfect. I asked the waiter if there was anywhere he suggested we should watch the fireworks from at the GF (hoping he would mention the beach). He told us the best spot was probably on the wrap around balcony around Narcoossee’s. I decided to let my girlfriend decide where she wanted to watch them from (In reality she was choosing where she wanted to b proposed to but she had no idea - Hahaha). She decided we should watch them from the balcony so I agreed (No sense in pressuring her to go to the beach in case she figured it out). The waiter took our picture during dinner and after he left she said,
”Oh my god! I thought he was taking our picture because you were going to propose to me or something”. I replied, “Are you crazy?!? After this vacation how did you expect me to afford a ring?” I can’t count the number of times I went to the bathroom; I was so nervous and had to take a breather once in a while. I was afraid that was acting weird, talking too much or too little. After dessert we made our way onto the balcony. I went to the restroom one more time and when I returned she told me she had just seen a shooting star, what a coincidence! I videotaped the fireworks and as soon as I felt the moment was right and I was ready I passed the camcorder to a man who was standing behind me. I asked him if he could take a short video of us. After fiddling around in my bag my girlfriend said to me “Get up, the poor man wants to watch the fireworks not videotape you playing with your bag.” Needless to say I didn’t hear a word she said. I then got down on one knee, expressed my love for her and asked her to marry me. I don’t remember exactly what I said, all I remember was that my knees were shaking and she said yes between sobs. Then everyone on the balcony (about 20 people) clapped and the fireworks ended on that note. As people left the balcony they congratulated us. I had planned for it to be more private but I didn’t mind having a few people around. It was actually nice to think that those people will probably never forget that moment either. The man who videotaped us was so happy and we now have a great video to share with our family. After we were left alone on the balcony we sat down on one of the benches and after my fiancée stopped crying we called our family to let them all know. I am shaking with excitement still as I write this. Everything went perfectly. The evening was flawless and all the coincidences (the seats at CRT, the fairy godmother and the shooting star) made it even more perfect. We then went back to our room and she was again surprised to find that I had arranged for rose petals and champagne in the room. Everything was perfect.
Days 4-11:
The rest of our vacation was a bit of a blur. LOL. We had a great time and the excitement of our engagement made our trip so special. We did all the Disney parks. They are all amazing, our favourite is MK just such a special place. Our favourite restaurants were of course Narcoosee’s but we also loved California Grill, Tokyo Dining, Chef de France, and boulangerie-patisserie. We also enjoyed 50’s Prime-time, what a unique experience. We loved Fantasmic, Illuminations and of course our favourite, Wishes! We even got chosen for a year-of-a-million-dreams magical moment (We got to go behind the scenes of Mission Space). Our trip couldn’t have been more magical. If I think of any other highlights I will post them later. Thanks for all the good wishes and thanks for all the help and great advice. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks,
MontrealKid (A.K.A. RomanticGuy)
