For anyone who is familiar with the routes to Okaloosa Island...we are going down tomorrow from LaGrange, GA (we are about an hour south of Atlanta, very close to the Alabama border). All along I%26#39;d been planning to go through Columbus, as MapQuest tells us...but in the last day or so, lots of people have said to go through Montgomery instead.
Anyone have opinions here?
TIA! We hope to be there by this time TOMORROW!!!!!!! :-)
Through Columbus or Through Montgomery to Okaloosa Island???
We just got back from Destin on Wednesday (we drove from Atlanta last Sunday). We took 85 South to 185 to 431 to 231(in Dothan) to I-10 West to 331 to 98 to Miramar Beach area. It took about 6.5 hours from North Atlanta, and we were travelling with a baby (had to stop a few times). It was very easy to follow. Now, it was our first time down there, so I can%26#39;t really compare it to anything, but the drive wasn%26#39;t bad at all. Have fun! There were absolutely no crowds anywhere!

Sounds great! Yep, those are the directions MapQuest gives us. (Except skip the 85 part since we live right off of 185. :-))
Thanks a lot!
You guys need to look up Baked%26#39;s directions They are much better .
I live North of Atlanta and I average about 5 1/2 hours using them .
I have done it in 5 but I was hauling butt . Alittle anxious !
