I am planning a trip to Sanibel during the 2nd week of January. Just wondering how far in advance should I book a 2 room condo during that week?
Are there other specific things to consider?
Thanks :)
condo in january?Hi Candon.
Things are starting to pick up in January, though some consider it the shoulder season, with peak season starting end of Jan or Feb. I would book fairly soon, it looks like condos are beginning to book up.
I know you%26#39;ve been to Sanibel before, but if you want more ideas on where to stay, eat or what to do, please give us more info - kids, how many adults, criteria, etc : )))
condo in january? That depends how much of a choice you want to have of accommodations. January is not as busy as the peak weeks of the holidays or late February and March but things are filling up. For example, we only have one week left open at our condo in January.
There will be vacancies for a while yet but the unit you might have wanted could be booked by now.
For other suggestions if you give us more specifics like number of people, preferences (gulf front, gulf view, doesn%26#39;t matter, etc.), budget then we can help you more.
Beat me to the punch, sv. Buy you a coke?
Are there any particular condo complexes you are considering or rental agencies? We would love to give you honest reliable feedback on them :) :) :)
Happy Travels :) :)
Remember many condos will let you cancel within 60 days with a full refund (not that I encourage anyone to do that) so it does let you make your best pick now and if for any reason things fall apart you have options. I know I booked my Ocean%26#39;s Reach condo for April 2008 in September 2007 and had no clue if I could even find a flight I could touch with a ten foot pole...but alas all was well and I kept the condo of my choosing.
BTW you probably already know this but whenever reading a review or comments from any one particular poster it is wise to look at some other reviews by other posters as well as look at some of a particualr posters other reviews and or posts on the forum. It really allows you to get a good flavor for who the experts are on the forum (I am not one but plan to get there in the next 10 years of my life by returning to Sanibel every chance I get). And Sunnyvac and MSC are two who will lead you down the path to a great vacation- at least they did for me!
Thanks everyone for the quick reply! We are leaning towards Pointe Santo because of the location. However, what is equally important is a *very* quiet room (no banging on the walls, or footsteps from upstairs, screaming, machine noises, etc) -- we deal with that enough where we live. Quietness matters 100x more than beach view or street view.
Also, a 2 bedroom, week of ~Jan 4-10.
oh, also, no smoking :)
Pointe Santo is an excellent choice. I have stayed there 3 times, and miss it when I choose somewhere else. I would recommend a 4th floor one if you want to be sure of no noise from neighbors. My last stay, the people above me must have had the same sleep pattern as myself, as I always heard them walking at 3 am, about the time I had to get up to get relief from my itchy noseeum bites! Be sure to check out VRBO, as well as the agencies like Royal Shell and VIP.
Hi Candon -
Please check out my review when considering your Pointe Santo option as you discussed:

Also, regarding your noise question ~ noise level was a issue for us while we were there as they were redoing the unit above us and the workers would turn their music on extremely loud and you could hear through our wall throughtout our stay as well as on our patio. We were in the e-building, third floor. Two mornings, my husband got up and went upstairs and ask them to turn it down and they would and did so rather nicely he stated, but still a pain when you are trying to sleep in. This may not be a problem in any of the other buildings, but worth noting since that was your concern.
I would consider renting directly through an owner, so you know exactly what you are getting.
Happy travels :) :). Have fun planning your trip!!
