Condition of Holiday Isle, JE condos?

I saw the pics of water flooding the pavillion at JE condos and the parking lot right before we left town. Does anyone know firsthand how is that area now???

We stayed at the Islander but would give JE a try next time, that community pavillion sp? looks really cool for everyone to hang and grill out. We just fell in love with that whole area, so magical and peaceful, just beautiful. Can you tell I missing Destin, dying over here!!!

Condition of Holiday Isle, JE condos?

Meant to say AM missing Destin LOL. Also, those big homes are just gorgeous there on Holiday Isle, how did they make out, they are right on the beach looks like?

Condition of Holiday Isle, JE condos?

Haven%26#39;t been there myself lately, but I understand that none of the units were damaged, some of the parking lot is still closed and the pavillion is open again...

Big carpet replacement for this fall is still on!

Hear that Destin Point did not fare so well though...

Destin Point did not fare well at all. Many of the houses lost their first floors and the pool cracked. So, if you are planning on staying there, I would keep a close eye on the repair progress.

I know part of the seawall is damaged at JE and the parking lot, of course, is damaged, but that is about all I can tell you as well.

I know they are talking about a class action lawsuit against the people who are trying to stop the beach renourishment.

JE and that whole area can%26#39;t take much more of this type of abuse. Their beach needs renourishment BADLY!

Thanks Drink and Semco for your replies!! Yes, you%26#39;re right that area can%26#39;t take much more.

We%26#39;re at Jetty East right now. Only half of the pavillion area is open, due to the heavy damage. The fence around the pool was damaged and the parking area closest to the beach is closed. Jetty East called us last week and they were very honest about the damages to their property. However, that didn%26#39;t stop us from coming. We%26#39;re having a great time, as usual.

Jetty East has an EXCELLENT reputation of telling you the truth when you inquire. I have always admired them for this. They%26#39;ve got it.

If you aren%26#39;t honest with people, then they only get pis*ed off when they get here. Telling people the truth allows a decision to be made and nine times out of ten, people come anyway.

Glad you are here and hopefully you are having a great time!!!

Thanks for posting about the integrity of Jetty East.

I%26#39;ll be down in October at Destin Pointe - there is another pool right in back of the condominium (Magnolia House) and the condo and that pool are untouched and fine - far enough away from the beach to be safe. It looks like the homes on the beachfront did get their first floors beat up. I wonder if it was all of them or just those first three or four? I think they should just forget about the beachside pool until they renourish the beach. I am hoping that nature will redeposit some of that sand. I see where there was a ton of sand on the Lands End road by the houses and it looked like they were scooping it up and putting it back on the beach or getting ready to. Yes it does need to be redone. I hope this winter. I hope the weather if pretty in October.

We also are very Loyal to Jetty East, as we stayed there four times of the six times we travelled to Destin, the other two at the Agean, which was also great. But we always loved Jetty East, even the last time we were there, the beach was smaller, yet, it was still great, and the walk to the Jetties was beautiful, and we also walked all the way down to the private homes to the East, that you mentioned, We have always loved staying at Jetty East, and as Semco says, they are very honest with the conditions at the resort, and as I said in an earlier post, when the hurricane came through in 2005, can%26#39;t remember the name, we were due to check in on that saturday morning, and Jetty East, refunded our deposit, we tried to get into somewhere in Hilton Head, but everyone scheduled to arrive in Destin, switched to Hilton Head. We instead travelled to St. Germain Wisconsin, and had a week of glorious sunshine, but would have rather been on the beach in front of Jetty East.

We loved the pool, and the pavillion, it is great to go down at night, cook out, while the boys are swimming in the pool.

I actually emailed Jetty East with regard to the damage, and I received a response telling me of the actual damage.

We have stayed in several gulf front condos, all of which have been beautiful, we have always had a great time there.

We also admire their honesty with regard to the actual conditions.

And Wallaboo, the main reason we always stay at Jetty or Agean, is the condos all have a washer and dryer in the unit, and since we travel from northern Illinois, Rockford, that is, it is a big help to pack very little clothes and be able to do laundry at night.

You would love Jetty East, I would consider staying at Islander, except for no laundry facilities in the condo itself.

Even with the diminished beach, we would not hesitate to stay at Jetty East!

Every condo we have stayed in has been exceptionally clean, beautiful and well furnished.

We love Holiday Isle, because it is very remote, and away from the clogging traffic of 98.

We only venture out, if it is pouring down rain, and then only to get myself a new pair of birkenstock sandals.

We don%26#39;t eat out much, mainly just Callahans, either for eating out but mostly, for just carry out.

We are so far away from the beauty of the Ocean, that we just prefer, to stay at the condo, and take in the beauty of it for the most of our stay.

I am glad that you are safe.

I also am thrilled that you loved Holiday Isle as much as I do., the private homes on the left, oceanside, as you drive west towards the condos, are beautiful.

I believe that you would find Jetty East beyond comparison to Islander, the Pavillion, and with the kids swimming very close, is really convenient. But our boys are 21, 20 and 15, and for years now, the two oldest were going out swimming with the youngest, if we didn%26#39;t want to go down late at night.

The tennis courts are also great.

Anyways, I am glad to hear that you are safe, and it is a tribute to you that you are helping others.

Up here in Northern Illinois, it so difficult to imagine how devasting and powerful a hurricane can be, the most frustrating thing we don%26#39;t understand is, why don%26#39;t people choose to leave.

My husband%26#39;s oldest son, from another marriage, lives in Baton Rouge, and has experienced the effects from Katrina, and Ike, and Gustav.

In any event, I do hope that you are well.

WE hope that one day we will be able to visit Destin again, yet it seems highly unlikely, as things just seem to be getting worse and worse for us, as of yesterday, we found out we need another $900.00 worth of repairs to our late model Saturn car.

My husband%26#39;s health continues to deteriorate, and the boys and I have no medical insurance.

I read with interest, Walla, all of your questions, posts, etc., about your visit, and am so pleased that you had a wonderful time.

Regards,

MG

And your are right, Semco, Jetty East has always been honest with the appraisal of the condition of their facilities.

Also, Wallaboo, we have always driven to the end of Gulf Shore Drive, and gone walking out to the Jetties, and have the boys fish, etc., our middle son is allergic to crabs, whether it be crabmeat, or live crabs, and once when we were there, he tried to catch a crab, and broke out again in hives, and had to get benadryl to help him reduce the hives.

The prices at Jetty East are pretty competive with the Islander, and also have in condo washer and driers. Which is a big plus for a family of 5 travelling freom Rockford,. Illinois.

We have only ever stayed on Holiday Isle, and love the seclusion of the area.

I only wish that someday we will be able to return.

I always have to stop, and let my husband drive across the mid bay bridge, because I am so afraid of heights, yet when we leave when it is dark, uually about 5 am,. I drive across the bridge.

I am so glad you had a great time in Destin, My boys absolutely love Callahan%26#39;s,.we have been to Back Porch, Lousiana Laginappe,, sp, and countless others, but no longer spend time waiting in line, only eat in, and order from Callahan%26#39;s for excellent food.

Jeez, I wish I could get there this year.

But with everything going on here, we just can%26#39;t do it.

You people that are able to live there, and visit on a regular basis are so blessed.

I am so glad Destin was spared any significant damage.

My best to all of you.

MG
