A while ago, someone mentioned a dinner show at a place called Lips. Sounds like it would make for a fun evening. Can anyone tell me where this is located? I think we will also do Laffing Matterz. Any other suggestions for nitetime entertainment will be greatly appreciated. Staying at the Marriott Harbor Beach and will be taking taxis. Thanks in advance. Julie
Lips
Lips is located on Oakland Park Boulevard between
Federal Hwy (US 1) and Dixie Hwy on the north side of the street. The food is OK, but the show is a scream. The performers are drag queens.
Now, the food and show are both grand at Laffin Matterz. See your concierge for reservations.
Lips
I think a regular poster , Abby, was scheduled to go to Lips with a group of friends for their Gospel Brunch last Sunday - maybe she%26#39;ll hop on and report if she did.
Laughing Matterz gets good reviews for food and show- I was surprised , however, that a recent poster said their show reservation was cancelled by the place who told them they had no other reservations for the night they had scheduled ( perhaps it was mid week). I hope they are generally doing better business than that ( this is our ';slow season'; for all tourist attractions).
Lips is a hoot! I was scheduled to go to the Sunday ';Gospel Brunch'; as Lulu mentioned, but we ended up postponing it because we weren%26#39;t sure what ';Ike'; was going to do. I did, however, attend ';Dining with the Divas'; one Thursday night. It was so much fun and our entire party (30 of us!) really liked our food. We were laughing so hard we were crying. I definitely recommend it.....and the price is great!
Laughing Matterz is a must-see as well. Rita and her crew do a fantastic job. I would call the restaurant directly to be sure the show is on for the night you want to attend.
Julie - has Lulu mentioned kringle to you yet? LOL
Yes, she has Abby- but I went to put on my special occasion pantsuit the other night and it was not a pretty picture- so I%26#39;m wondering if I shouldn%26#39;t be looking more for celery sticks! I do enter that drawing faithfully every week , so If I win the fre kringle I%26#39;ll have it delivered for the Meet n Greet- I wonder if kringle tastes good with beer???
I%26#39;ve never had kringle with beer, but there%26#39;s always a first time!!! Lulu - I%26#39;m with you in the tight-clothes category and I%26#39;ve decided that I need to get off the ';seafood diet';. You know the one. I ';see food';, I eat it! LOL
Our meet %26amp; greet is not that far away now....Sue, how excited are you wooooooooooohooooooooooo!!!! :) Oh, it%26#39;s that you%26#39;re excited about the trip, not so much the meet %26amp; greet! tee hee. I%26#39;m really looking forward to it too.
Kringle and beer (for breakfast)- totally Wisconsin! Just one bite of a Kringle puts an inch on my hips! LOL Two more days and I hope to be gazing at the ocean....heaven. Julie
OK English ingnorance prevails again - what%26#39;s a Kringle?
It%26#39;s a DELICIOUS flaky pastry shaped like a pretzel and usually filled with either fruit, cinnamon sugar or almond paste etc. Sort of a breakfast item and the genuine Scandinavian ones are large and serve about 8 ( or 1 if I%26#39;m eating it).
Here in the US , we have ';danish pastries'; which are individually sized and along the same idea, but I spent several weeks in Denmark and had the real thing made with butter and OMIGOD, it is heaven and so much better. So Abby , who is from an area of the US where many Scandinavians live ( Minnesota and Wisconsin , I%26#39;d say) found an on line bakery that sells them and also has a weekly ';win a kringle'; contest. I enter it every week and am still hoping! To order one is a big temptation, but like so many online food products , you pay almost as much for shipping as for the food! I%26#39;m hoping I%26#39;ll get one for free one of these days. I don%26#39;t know if it is traditional , but in Denmark a friend in a small town there had a ';milestone '; birthday and the town baker personally brought a kringle to his home ,as well as a birthday cake - the kringle was carried by the baker%26#39;s son and the baker was behind him with the cake - as well as most of the little town- and it was our first experience with kringle- I think i like it better than birthday cake!
I%26#39;ll post a website so you can salivate with me! I have heard a rumor that there may be a bakery in Lake Worth( near Palm Beach) that makes them- I may try to find it next time I am up there!
Not for me, I don%26#39;t like Danish Pastries, I don%26#39;t really have sweet tooth. The breakfast things that you get in the US but not normally in the UK which I love are Eggs Florentine, Eggs Benedict and bagels with lox and cream cheese. However even eggs and bacon taste better in the Florida sunshine. Bring it on 2 weeks tomorrow YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
I%26#39;m telling lies, it%26#39;s 3 weeks tomorrow :( Wishful thinking on my part.
