I am thinking of renting a 3-4 bedroom house for a couple of weeks in Naples in December. I have checked out some rental websites such as VRBO. There is a great deal of choice with many communities that I am not familiar with - Marco Island, Vanderbilt Beach, North Naples, Olde Naples, East Naples, Lely, Fiddlers Creek, Briarwood etc. Can you distinguish or recommend communities. Looking for proximity to beach, shops, restaurants. Thanks

Hi Drazii,
Vanderbilt, North naples and Old naples would be closest to the beaches. Some listings for vanderbilt may be closest to the beaches. The closest shopping would be The Waterside Shops which are very nearby with Saks Fifth Avenue as well as Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and a host of other upscale shops. Nordstrom should be open soon. There are some restaurants there as well which are nice but they are chains and views of the parking lot don%26#39;t do much for me.
Old Naples is very close to the beaches and closest to downtown Naples (Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South) and lots of dining, pubs, galleries and restaurants.
Lely is a nice resort/golf community closer to Marco Island but not on Marco. Marco has it%26#39;s own beaches and shops and restaurants. It%26#39;s its own community with some nice resorts and restaurants. For more info on marco check out the Marco Island forum.
Fiddlers creek is also close to Marco but I do not know too much about this community.
Briarwood is about 10 minute drive to downtown Naples and the beach.
East Naples is basically where Lely and Fiddlers would be. On the way to Marco.
Below is a link to a google map of naples.
