For anyone that is interested, we evacuated to San Antonio, Tx where I am from on Friday of last week and have family there and came back to Friendswood when power came back on Tuesday.
We only had our fences damaged and that was it. No damage to our home at all. We were so lucky and blessed. We boarded up our windows and no damage. There are neighbors here in our town with trees on their houses. We know a couple whose optometrist business is totally gone, roof blew off and that was it.
There are tons of areas still without power in Houston area, its unreal. The devastation to Galveston is immense!! As well as Crystal Beach, Gilchrist and Surfside, Freeport. Galveston is our close beach to get to, only 30 min away. It is nothing like Destin of course but still hard to see it now.
Back safe and sound....
Welcome back - glad you are safe and sound.
Back safe and sound....
I am so glad you posted! And VERY glad you are safe and your home is undamaged.
Thanks for letting us know.
I am glad all is OK and you and your family are safe .
I think alot of us were worried about you .
Has anyone heard anything from Chief ????
Thanks for your post, as we all were wondering. Glad you and your family are safe and sound.
Thanks for posting to let us know how you are. We were all wondering. I%26#39;m glad you and yours came through unscathed.
wallaboosmom,
It is so great to hear from you! If I%26#39;d have had your number, I would have called you sooner. It%26#39;s amazing that you suffered so little damage being a little clsoer to Galveston than I, but I%26#39;d like to think that the positive energy from the wonderful people on this forum helped. I know it helped me...our community looks like a war zone, but I%26#39;ve only got three fence panels down, and one small tree down, that totally missed the house and cars.
I%26#39;m hoping to get some pictures posted soon of the aftermath on my reservation (OK, neighborhood). And with some help, I may even be able to put up the video my son and I shot at 2:00 AM just before the worst of it came.
And murphytex, if you%26#39;re out there, you almost had a vistor late Saturday night! Had I had power to get a hold of you to know where to go, I was THERE man! And you wouldn%26#39;t have even needed to supply the beverages!
Seriously, though, a sincere thanks to all of you who PMed me and posted with your concerns for me and my family. I missed all of you (OK, so I missed your beach!) Its true what they say about not knowing how much you miss something until its gone, most notably ELECTRICITY!!! Well that%26#39;s back now, and it should be followed shortly by my sanity.
Bye for now, lots of work to catch up on. Wallaboosmom, again, you don%26#39;t know how great it was to see your post!
Boy it is endearing to hear from you guys. Chief, glad you are okay too. I had PM%26#39;d MurphyTex to see if he had heard from you. Welcome back.
Great to hear from everyone and that you%26#39;re ok. Hang in there, it will get better.
Walla and Chief,
So happy to hear that you and your families are safe.
Pictures in local paper today, show Galveston,Beach before and after, and it%26#39;s devastating.
Also, an article, about how it is feared that many who stayed to ';wait it out';, may have been washed out to sea, and it would take sometime, to know what became of people.
It is a horrible thought.
It is so difficult to understand why people didn%26#39;t leave.
But I am glad for you both, that you and yours are safe.
MG
That is great everyone is safe and sound ..
Now we can carry on as normal !!
Semco open the tent !
