OK, just last week we finally confirmed our first trip to Fantasy Fest (10/22-10/27). We%26#39;ve made it to KW for New Year%26#39;s in the past, but things never seemed to work out for FF (planning this far in advance is not in our genes...)
Tons of questions, but we%26#39;ll start off with just a couple:
1) How many costumes do we need (we realize the answer%26#39;s somewhere between 0-30, but some experienced guidance would be nice)?
2) Is it worth the effort to buy prepurchase tickets for the events that need tickets? I%26#39;ve read in here that even having tickets doesn%26#39;t necessarily mean you%26#39;ll be able to get in. And planning where we%26#39;re going to be at any specific time just seems so un-KW....
3) What do you consider the ';must-see'; event(s) of the week?
Thanks!!

You could wear a different costume everyday but you really do not have to. Most people dress up on Fri and Sat for the street fair and as far as what they wear in the evening it all depends on what events you sign up for.

I have never heard of anyone buying a ticket for something and not getting in. Some events do sell out so if you see something you want to participate in, buy the ticket.

It all depends on your tastes. Pretenders in Paradise is fun. A lot of people like the toga party at Sloppys. The homemade bikini contest is popular as well as the Party in Plaid. The Masquerade March is also fun, especially if you have a great costume.
Fantasy FestArnie,
thanks a lot for your insight, that actually helps immensely!!
We%26#39;ve been to the final FF parade for the past 6 or 7 years (or more). We%26#39;ve never worn costumes. Wear what you want! After all, it%26#39;s Key West.
We are also going for Fantasy Fest. Last year was our first one. We did have a costume for the pirate event and the red party. The bars were so full that is spilled out into the streets like one big party. We did not have tickets to events, but if you dress in the theme for the night you have more fun.It really is a lot of fun and there were beer and drink stands set up outside the bars so if you could not get it, you could still get a drink.
Thanks for all the feedback, it certainly helps. It is tough to plan; every time we try to plan something we end up stopping by Irish Kevin%26#39;s at noon or so and from there all the plans seem to change......
Your coming in on Wednesday which is Red Nite.Pack something Red and you will be set. Thursday is toga nite, pack a sheet and you will be set. As far as buting tickets to events the best party is in the street and bars which surround the party zone. Some people do not go with the theme and dress in costumes, pirates, devils ,etc. Once you get down there you will see it is pretty layed back. You won%26#39;t have to find the party the party usually finds you. If you want some ideas on how to dress do a search on Google for %26#39;Fantasy fest photos%26#39;. Good luck and have a great time.
Must See Event - last year alot of us from the Tripadvisor FF forum had a meet and greet at the bull on wednesday. I think it is planned again this year
Good luck and have a great time.
It would be fun to meet up with a group from here on Wednesday (even though my wife doesn%26#39;t really speak English, at least not before a few drinks...). Count us in!
hey everyone we will have to meet up at the bull again on wednesday the 22nd for a drink or two or three. se pa couple i think i met you on new years was it year before last. its seabreeze? cant wait counting the days
Well we are going to FF for the first time this year too. We are really excited, I have been making costumes etc. Through my exploring online we have picked certain things that we want to dress up for. Pretty much trying to save our money for drinking, we are going to do the free stuff.
our plans (20th-27th)

Tues. - party in plaid free (plaid outfit)
Wed. day-Pet parade $ since we are taking our dog
night-Red Party @ Forgarty%26#39;s (not sure if costs)(dress in red)
Thur. - Toga Party @ sloppy joe%26#39;s ($)
Fri. - masq. march with is free (wear whatever you want)

any advice from anyone on what time to get to the parties or events?
yes, Seabreeze, we did meet you during one of the New Years Eves visits....count us in for happy hour on Wed, the 22nd....
kungfuhop, your itinerary looks like something to shoot for...i%26#39;m not sure how many costumes can fit into the little luggage we%26#39;re allowed to bring nowadays, though!!
